Attitudes toward retirement
The clientele of retirees is perhaps the third largest in travel agencies after the singles and of course of the families with small children but, how do retirees affect travel and tourism agencies?
Older adults in Colombia struggle every day for having salary of their pension that isn’t a misery, the continuing problems with the far-sighted of pensions and severance funds is the constant headache for those who are older than 60 years.
In Colombia, those retirees who enjoy a good pension are those that take advantage of them in its majority for travel and come quite to travel and tourism agencies in search of holiday plans to travel with their partner or family, the main reason for this phenomenon apart from high income from pension is the amount of free time retirees has.
The attitude toward retirement is quite complicated, not only because far-sighted have tricks to catch old people’s money in different ways but also because asking for that money later is a big problem.
According Fedesarollo: "for the 2050 85% of the Colombians will not have access to a pension."
In accordance with this, a study made by the Universidad Nacional informs that: “Only 0.14% of the population receives a pension equal to or greater than 25 legal minimum wages, those are the ones who belong to the regime of congressmen, while 93% affiliated to Colpensiones receive as pension less than 2 minimum wages.”
