Demand shifts for different categories of goods and services
Apparel and Footwear in Colombia
During 2015, sales of apparel and footwear in volume terms recorded a lower rate than that of the overall review period. The slowdown of the Colombian economy along with inflationary pressures led Colombians to be more cautious regarding their expenditure, and they spent less on non-essential goods and made more-rational and less-frequent purchases or shifted to more-economic brands. Comparing the performance of both apparel and footwear, a lower rate was observed in footwear in 2015.
Jeans in Colombia
In 2015, men’s jeans and women’s jeans saw similar growth rates with 6% volume rises. The increasing number of workplaces that allow casualwear and jeans in different colors, for both men and women, contributed to their positive performances. The versatility of jeans means that they can be combined with more-formal jackets and blazers and different footwear styles to create more-formal looks for weekdays.
Air Care in Colombia
Within a very active air care category, air care products that act as odour eliminators rather than just maskers are becoming increasingly important in bathrooms and kitchens, places where consumers may need to rapidly eliminate bad odours.
