In 2012, the National Congress brings out law 1558 of 10 July, which indicates: “ "Article 1. Importance of the tourist industry: tourism is an essential industry for the development of the country and in particular of the different territorial entities and fulfills a social function. As an industry that is, the rates applicable to the lenders of tourist services in the areas of taxation, are those corresponding to the industrial activity or I trade if it is more favorable. The State will give you special protection because of their importance for national development."
