
Average level of education
Colombia has a low education level, according El Mundo.com, between a group of 65 countries our nation is located on the 62nd because of its test scores in math, language and science. Also, 42% of 25-64 year olds attained at least high school education, this percentage is much lower that the Organization for Economic co-operation and Development (OECD).
Also, an above average proportion of students are enrolled in private institutions, 36% are enrolled at pre-primary level, 19% are enrolled at primary level, another 19% are enrolled at the lower secondary level and 23% are enrolled at the upper secondary level.
According to PISA test, the results of students of 15 years old that are enrolled in private schools get better results in the test that the students that are enrolled in public schools. However, in the country doesn’t exist real differences between these institutions.
